FBI Special Agents with a finance and accounting background are trained to use forensic accounting techniques to trace the flow of money and identify the sources of illicit funds

Their remarkable abilities within this discipline enable them to identify criminal activity, detect hidden assets, trace transactions back to their origins, and deliver full accountability. Skilled financial consultants play a critical role in conducting investigations and can provide valuable insights into areas such as cybersecurity, counterintelligence, terrorism, and organized crime.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Candidates must:

  • Maintain professionalism and uphold the standards of ethical behavior.
  • Becoming authorized to access Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) requires successfully passing a challenging background investigation, credit check, and polygraph evaluation.
  • Fulfill the physical fitness demands; substantiate possessing robust physical prowess to succeed in the training at the FBI Academy situated in Quantico, VA, and maintaining an exceptional level of fitness over your career.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in both vision and hearing in accordance with the specified standards during the medical assessment.
  • In order to be employed as a Special Agent, one must complete roughly 19 weeks of specialized training that takes place at the FBI Academy located in Quantico.
  • After graduating from the FBI Academy, agents should expect to be assigned to one of the 56 Field Offices - including San Juan, Puerto Rico - or a remote resident agency. It is uncommon for new agents to remain in their original office.
  • Always be open to temporary duty assignments across the globe on a temporary or long-term basis, throughout your career.
  • Being prepared to work a minimum of 50 hours every week, with changing schedules and the need to be accessible 24/7, including holidays and weekends, is important.
  • Indicate the willingness and readiness to engage in apprehensions, execute authorized searches, conduct onslaughts, and related activities.

Furthermore, the completion of the Special Agent Selection System (SASS) is a vital requirement for all individuals interested in becoming Special Agents. The selection process is a rigorous process designed to evaluate the individual's mental and physical abilities to ensure compatibility with the demanding nature of the profession. The average duration of the selection process is at least a year.

Key Requirments:

You must:

  • Qualify for becoming a citizen of the United States.
  • To be eligible for the position, the applicant must have attained a minimum of 23 years and should not be older than 37 years on appointment.
  • Meet the necessary expectations to obtain a Top Secret SCI Clearance.
  • Individuals can be considered for application if they have at least four years of full-time professional work experience (check the work experience waiver for any exemptions).
  • To be considered for employment with the FBI, one must meet the Eligibility criteria.
  • In order to be eligible for this role, you must have a valid driver's license and a minimum of 6 months driving experience.

Education Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree or higher is necessary, specifically in areas of study such as Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or Forensic Accounting.

Meeting the conditions of submission necessitates proof that a degree was earned from a college or university accredited at the time, confirmed by submission of transcripts.
