Job Description: Care Technician
We are currently seeking compassionate and dedicated Care Technicians to join our healthcare team. As a Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care and support under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals. Responsibilities:
Patient Care: Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and ambulation. Provide assistance with feeding and hydration as needed, ensuring patient comfort and safety at all times.
Vital Signs Monitoring: Perform routine measurements of vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiratory rate. Document findings accurately and report any abnormalities or changes in patient condition to the nursing staff.
Mobility Assistance: Assist patients with mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices to prevent injury. Help patients with positioning in bed or chairs, and provide support during ambulation or physical therapy exercises.
Medical Equipment: Set up and operate medical equipment and devices, such as oxygen therapy equipment, suction devices, and cardiac monitors. Ensure equipment is functioning properly, and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
Patient Monitoring: Observe patients for signs of discomfort, distress, or changes in condition. Report any concerns to the nursing staff promptly and follow established protocols for escalation of care.
Patient Transport: Transport patients to and from various areas within the healthcare facility, such as diagnostic testing, procedures, or rehabilitation sessions. Ensure patient safety and comfort during transport, using appropriate transfer techniques and equipment.
Environmental Support: Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients, including cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, equipment, and common areas. Dispose of waste and soiled linens according to facility policies and infection control guidelines.
Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team. Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and families, and advocate for their needs and preferences.
Requirements:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a certified nursing assistant (CNA) program or equivalent training preferred.
Certification: Current certification as a nursing assistant or patient care technician (PCT) preferred. Basic life support (BLS) certification may be required.
Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred but not required. Willingness to learn and adapt to the demands of the role.
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods. Comfort with providing physical assistance to patients with mobility limitations or disabilities.
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members with empathy, compassion, and professionalism.
