POSITION: FARM ASSISTANT/EDUCATOR

Non-exempt/full-time

Summary: Under the direction of the Farm Manager, the Farm Assistant/Educator will assist with the maintenance of the growing grounds; provide support for neighborhood-based garden installations and all other farm=related activities. This position will also participate in the implementation of educational programming with various groups and populations. Responsibilities include: assist with plant production and maintenance of the growing grounds; assist with the implementation of the Watts Certified Grower s Certifications Program; facility classroom and online farm training, and garden workshops; assist with coordination of community-based garden installations; provide mentoring and coaching volunteers and youth trainees; assist with community engagement and outreach; provide clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, and administrative paperwork; work with Service Coordinator with data collection, program monitoring and reporting.

Qualifications: Minimum of two years experience working on a farm or urban agricultural setting; demonstrated knowledge and experience with planting, pest management, irrigation, lite farm machinery operation, and performing farm duties such a building raised beds, building berms, trellising, and companion planting. Effective verbal and written communication skills required; organizational skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel. Cultural sensitivity and ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required., self-motivated, cooperative, and flexible working with farm machinery, working with youth and youth programs, ability to speak, read, and write in English and Spanish.

Compensation based on experience: $39,520-$43,680/yr.
