Job Responsibilities:

• Review the specimens against standard criteria to decide if they are appropriate for testing
• Follow the department's Standard Operating Procedures to carry out routine and complex technical procedures and functions
• Monitoring, testing, and addressing any possible imperfections in the equipment can have a positive impact on the successful operation of instrumentation
• Success in testing depends on the team's ability to make informed and strategic technical decisions for problem-solving.
• The development, testing, and validation of novel reagents or controls are essential steps in improving the efficiency and accuracy of various scientific techniques and methodologies
• The timely and accurate reporting of test results is indispensable to delivering excellent healthcare
• Maintaining a detailed schedule that outlines all planned maintenance and quality control tasks for each piece of equipment can help ensure that all necessary tasks are completed on time. In addition, automating these processes can help streamline maintenance and quality control procedures and improve efficiency
• Assess and restock the vital testing bench items on a regular basis
• Offer assistance in managing samples as required
• Prioritize safety in the workplace and wear the appropriate personal protective equipment

Requirements:

• Those looking to obtain a degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology can opt for an associate degree program
• A background in laboratory testing is highly beneficial
• ASCP or AMT certification is a widely recognized measure of excellence in the field of medical laboratory sciences
• The ability to be productive as an individual while contributing to the success of the team
• Equipped with expertise in computer operations; understanding laboratory information systems is considered a valuable trait
• An inherent talent for paying close attention to details while also having formidable communication and organizational skills
• A candidate's ability to pass a standardized color vision test is critical for selection
• The ability to work additional hours or switch to other shifts depending on the request of the firm
