Job Responsibilities:

• Inspect the specimens to confirm their conformity with the established testing standards
• Perform a variety of technical procedures and functions using the guidelines provided by the department's Standard Operating Procedures
• Supervising the operation and maintenance of various machinery is paramount to the precision and accuracy of data
• Expertise in technical decision-making and problem-solving is essential for any competent testing professional.
• The preparation, assessment, and validation of innovative reagents or controls are vital components in detecting, diagnosing, and treating various diseases or disorders
• Accurate and prompt reporting of test findings is fundamental to delivering effective patient care
• Some of the most common preventive maintenance tasks include cleaning and replacing air filters, inspecting and tightening electrical connections, and lubricating moving parts. These tasks are essential in ensuring that equipment continues to function as it should
• Evaluate and replenish the stocks of testing bench resources as needed
• Help in the handling of samples as required
• Keep the work environment safe by wearing the necessary protective clothing and equipment

Requirements:

• A degree in Chemical or Biological science, Microbiology Technologist or Medical Technology is essential for those who wish to pursue their career in Medical Laboratory Technology
• Prior exposure to clinical laboratory procedures is greatly preferred
• ASCP and AMT certification indicates that an individual has retained and demonstrated a higher level of knowledge, skills, and proficiency in clinical laboratory sciences
• The talent to operate proficiently in solitary situations while also participating in group endeavors
• Competent in operating computers effectively; familiarity with laboratory information systems would be a plus
• The capability to be incredibly thorough while also possessing great communication and organizational skills
• A standardized test for color vision is a mandatory part of the qualification process
• The capacity to be available for extended hours or alternative shifts in accordance with the demands of the employer
