Job Objectives

Job Responsibilities/Tasks

Patient Experience

  • Acknowledges patients and extends assistance with products and services, resulting in a congenial atmosphere. Handles patient issues promptly and replies to questions to ensure a satisfactory patient experience.
  • Instructs and models customer service best practices for the team members to deliver a unique and delightful experience, covering interpersonal gestures such as greetings, eye contact, politeness, etc., and Walgreens' service traits like showing curiosity to identify demands, taking initiative to help clients, serving them until they are happy, promoting empathy and diversity, etc.
  • Committed to delivering excellent patient experience by being proactive in identifying patients' needs. Encourages the use of healthcare services offered by Walgreens, such as patient consultation, medication management, drug therapy reviews, and clinical or wellness services.
  • Participates in and supports events that highlight the different communities we serve as instructed by the Store Manager, Healthcare Supervisor, District Manager or Pharmacy Manager.

Operations

  • The specialist counsels patients and responds to their queries regarding medication usage, unwanted consequences, drug interactions, contra-indications, privacy of patient information, generic options, economical medication options, over-the-counter products, and refers to medical providers when needed to ensure that proper medication usage is followed, health requirements attended to, and satisfaction with the service provided.
  • Compounding, medication management, drug therapy reviews, and verification are among the various functions that a pharmacist performs.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of medication review, interpretation, and dispensation

  • Validates that the pharmacy complies with regulations, company policies, and standards, fostering uninterrupted operation. Collaborates with the pharmacy manager to establish protocols that streamline the pharmacy's workflow, such as assigning roles, coordinating activities, and encouraging feedback from team members. Assumes accountability for opening and closing functions and conducting shift changes.
  • In order to properly fill prescriptions, the Product Review/Retail Fill Process Pharmacist must combine the Good Faith Dispensing policy with applicable controlled substance laws at both state and federal levels.
  • Keeps current with the latest developments in pharmacy-related computing systems, such as billing, inventory management, and point-of-sale registers, to enhance the overall efficiency of pharmacy operations.
  • The key aim is to ensure insurance claims are handled precisely, tackle issues faced by patients, and dodge any payment rejections by liaising with insurers and healthcare providers as well as participating in third-party assessments.
  • Verify patient allergies to prescribed medications and suggest alternative medications to prevent adverse reactions.
  • Conducts health services such as immunization, diagnostic evaluations, disease management, and other wellness activities.
  • Assists the pharmacy manager in reviewing performance indicators related to pharmacy finances, customer satisfaction, and pharmacy asset protection.
  • Utilizes community outreach initiatives as a means of promoting the pharmacy's services, increasing revenue, and facilitating improved health outcomes for patients.
  • In virtual domains, follows explicit company procedures and guidelines when reviewing products.

Basic Qualifications

  • The minimum qualification required for the role is a degree in Pharmacy or equivalent from an accredited educational institution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • To be eligible for this position, candidates should have no less than one year of experience as a retail pharmacist and exhibit proficiency in fulfilling responsibilities related to prescription filling and verification, legal compliance, pharmacy operations, software and technology, and insurance processes.
