Major Responsibilities :



Oversees the financial performance of operations for assigned Patient Service Market and identified business unit(s). Directs completion and reviews reports on financial performance.



Supervises, investigates, analyzes and presents recommendations with respect to costs (labor and non-labor) and revenue initiatives, including processes, re-engineering and detailed performance / financial / program reviews, to ensure stated financial goals are attained



  • Works collaboratively with operations management and corporate revenue cycle departments (Patient Access, HIM, and revenue cycle analysts) to capitalize on revenue cycle process improvement opportunities to optimize revenue and better understand / enhance payer and reimbursement trends.



Analyzes variances to budgets / forecasts and communicates such to Patient Service Marketing leadership and Regional Finance leaders.


Makes recommendations to and partners with operations leaders to ensure financial targets are met and / or exceeded.



  • Implements standardization of work, processes and deliverables while ensures financial integration within and across patient service market and patient service sites.

  • Serves as a resource / liaison for Patient Service Market leadership, corporate finance staff (general accounting and reimbursement, etc.


departments and functions that directly affect the financial performance, and revenue cycle (including managed care), health information management, system logistics, and information technology for the Patient Service Market by providing guidance on policies and procedures, provides direction of financial statement preparation process, consultation on specific finance-related issues or day-to-day operations issues, notification regarding material issues impacting net reimbursement, etc.



Presents financial information to boards, executive and management teams and regional monthly operating reviews. Effective communication skills with the ability to take complex financial information and make it clear and understandable to non-financial people.



Explains the why behind financial improvement plans and initiatives.



  • Oversees, explains and interprets close results for Patient Service Market leadership. Provides close results presentations to governance and other leadership groups that includes necessary reports and information while providing a high level direction on decision and timing.

  • Leads and / or participates in Patient Service Market, specific entity, and System initiatives to develop new services / processes by identifying issues, brainstorming ideas, and proactively creating action / bridge plans working to include appropriate stakeholders in discussions.

  • Leads site capital committee, reviews strategic proformas and narratives while helping to ensure that strategic submissions capture the full value of the project to maximize approval success.


Prepares capital look back analysis process and ensures alignment of capital plan to budget.



  • Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.

  • Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.

  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.


Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :



None Required.



Education Required :



Master's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Finance or related field.



Experience Required :



Typically requires 15 years of experience in financial operations which includes experiences overseeing financial operations and developing and executing financial strategies within a large complex organization.



Healthcare experience preferred. Includes 5 years of management experience in financial management.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :



  • Excellent relational skills and ability to get things done through teamwork, persuasion and influence

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with executive boards, teams, physicians and staff. Formal presentation and business writing skills.


Ability to explain complex financial information in ways non Financial people can understand and relate to.



Excellent analytical skills, including ability to review quantitative and qualitative data and reach sound conclusions
